Description

Amazon is seeking a Senior Tax Principal to join our APAC Tax Controversy Team with a focus on tax controversy matters, including tax audits, litigation and dispute resolution in APAC in connection with both direct and indirect tax issues, Advanced Pricing Agreement (APA), and Mutual Agreement Procedures (MAP).

The Tax Controversy Team is looking for an experienced professional who can operate in a dynamic environment, will roll up their own sleeves and dive deep to deliver impactful results on multiple projects with competing deadlines. This role requires some international travel.

This position is located in Singapore.

Key job responsibilities
Strategy and management of tax audits and disputes in APAC, including:

– Management of tax authority and APA/MAP competent authorities relationships.
– Preparing, managing and coordinating responses to information document requests, due diligence requests, and other similar inquiries from tax authorities.
– Preparing and presenting on various direct and indirect tax issues to tax authorities.
– Providing technical audit support in written and oral submissions to the tax authorities.
– Supporting and managing tax authorities’ requests for interviews of members in various business teams.
– Coordinating with stakeholders within Amazon Tax and non-Tax teams in connection with the controversies.
– Researching and documenting tax issues, from a controversy perspective.
– Managing relationships with outside counsel and other external advisors on tax controversy matters.
– Implementing and executing organizational processes to help the Tax Controversy Team meet its goal of continuous process improvements related to the team’s objectives.

Basic Qualifications

– 14+ years of international tax experience in law firms, public accounting firms or MNCs, including experience in tax controversy management

Preferred Qualifications

– Experience working effectively across cross-functional teams and partnering well with people at all levels within an organization
– Desire to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, informal, and often ambiguous and rapidly changing environment
– High work standards and excellent written and oral communication skills
