The Finance Manager is responsible for cost accounting, financial control and business partnering for Nxera’s data centre operations, with primary responsibility for operating expenditure (Opex), capital expenditure (Capex), fixed assets and related financial reporting.

 

The role partners with Operations, Engineering, Procurement and Finance stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, provide analysis of key cost and operational drivers, strengthen financial controls, and support effective management of data centre expenditure.

 

The Finance Manager will take end-to-end ownership of assigned financial areas, proactively identify and resolve accounting and process issues, and provide actionable financial insights to support management decision-making.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Cost Accounting & Financial Control

  • Own the accounting and financial control of data centre operating expenditure, capital expenditure, fixed assets, depreciation, accruals and related balance sheet accounts.
  • Ensure appropriate classification of expenditure between Opex, Capex and Cost of Sales in accordance with applicable accounting policies and the underlying business substance.
  • Review monthly accruals, provisions and balance sheet accounts for completeness and accuracy.
  • Ensure timely capitalisation, commencement of depreciation, asset transfers and disposals.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, internal policies and financial controls.

 

Month-End Close & Financial Reporting

  • Own and coordinate monthly closing activities for assigned Opex, Capex and related accounting areas.
  • Ensure journals, accruals, reconciliations and supporting schedules are complete, accurate and submitted within agreed timelines.
  • Support statutory reporting, audits and other financial reporting requirements relating to assigned areas.

 

Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Analysis

  • Coordinate with the Business Analyst and relevant stakeholders to ensure budgets, forecasts and latest estimates are complete, accurate and appropriately supported by underlying operational assumptions.
  • Review financial assumptions, phasing and movements for reasonableness and consistency with actual performance and known business developments.
  • Own the accurate and timely submission of budgets, forecasts and related financial information into relevant planning and financial systems.
  • Analyse actual performance against budget and forecast, and work with the Business Analyst to identify key underlying drivers and financial implications.
  • Translate financial and operational information into actionable insights to support management decision-making.

 

Capex & Fixed Asset Management

  • Coordinate with Engineering, Project teams and the Business Analyst to ensure project developments, expenditure forecasts and changes in timing or scope are appropriately reflected in financial reporting and forecasts.
  • Monitor Capex against approved budgets and forecasts and highlight material overruns, underspends, delays and financial risks.
  • Review expenditure for appropriate Capex versus Opex treatment and ensure completed assets are capitalised on a timely basis.
  • Monitor construction-in-progress and aged projects and ensure timely follow-up on projects requiring commissioning, capitalisation or financial closure.

 

Process Improvement, Governance & Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Drive improvements to closing, accrual, budgeting, Capex, fixed asset and cost-accounting processes.
  • Leverage financial systems, automation and analytical tools to improve the efficiency, accuracy and reliability of finance processes.
  • Build effective working relationships across Finance, Operations, Engineering, Procurement and other relevant functions.
  • Communicate financial information and insights clearly to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.

 

Requirements

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline, or an equivalent relevant professional qualification or experience.
  • At least 4 years of relevant experience in cost accounting, financial control, financial analysis and/or business partnering.
  • Strong analytical and financial modelling capabilities.
  • Experience in budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
  • Knowledge of financial reporting and statutory compliance requirements relevant to the role.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with finance and non-finance stakeholders.
  • Ability to build effective cross-functional working relationships.
  • Ability to deliver accurate, high-quality work within agreed timelines.
  • Adaptable and able to work effectively in a changing business environment.
  • Professional accounting qualification such as CA, CPA or ACCA is preferred.
  • Prior relevant experience in the infrastructure and/or data centre sector is advantageous.
