Why join

Does the idea of solving complex problems by fusing UX methodologies and design thinking excite you?

Your interest in challenging ideas, making the complex simple, and your passion to co-create solutions with customers, colleagues and business leaders will set you up for success.

At OCBC Group Customer Experience (GCX), you will work at the intersection of design, strategy and innovation – transforming complex banking journeys into intuitive, human-centred solutions. Join this multi-disciplinary team recognised for design excellence, where your ideas directly influence how customers experience OCBC across channels and touchpoints.

How you succeed

We’re looking for a Visual Designer, Illustration and Motion, for a 12-month full-time contract, to lead illustration and motion output across our GCX portfolio, predominantly consumer banking platforms. Illustration is the primary craft this role is judged on, with motion as a genuine extension of that craft. Connecting your work to the wider visual and design system is a secondary part of the role.

You work on high-visibility production across festive campaigns, pre-login moments, in-app surfaces, and personalised features. Your output should feel distinctly modern, bold, and unexpected for a bank, while working within real technical constraints throughout production.

Through your work, you build visual and motion craft that lasts beyond a single campaign – reusable visual assets, iconography, templates, and a visual system the wider team can extend and adapt across the markets and regions we operate in.

What you do

  • Lead illustration for festive and campaign work (for example Chinese New Year e-hongbao, National Day), from planning through to final, production-ready assets, working with stakeholders and product designers to shape the brief before production starts.
  • Design interactive and motion elements woven into the mobile and desktop app UI, across both campaign work and ongoing in-app moments such as iconography or spot illustrations – built to create impact and drive real engagement.
  • Balance illustration quality against strict performance constraints – export lightweight, optimised assets that don’t slow down performance or in-app load times.
  • Maintain visual and brand consistency across visuals – illustration and motion output, partnering with the Standards Designer where your work touches shared visual patterns or components, including motion tokens such as easing, duration, and choreography, and occasionally with the brand team.
  • Build reusable illustration, iconography, and motion components, templates, and a lightweight visual system, so future campaign work doesn’t start from zero each time.

Who you work with

You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams across business, product, technology, brand, and marketing to deliver customer-centric solutions and drive meaningful outcomes across the

organisation. Senior stakeholder engagement isn’t the core of this role, but as the person leading illustration, motion, and visual output, you should expect some exposure and be able to explain and

stand behind your work directly. Within GCX, you will work alongside researchers and designers in a highly collaborative, multi-disciplinary, customer-led environment. Much of the work builds on and

extends existing patterns.

Who you are

We are looking for individuals with the following capabilities. You don’t need to meet every point below –

skills and portfolio strength matter more than any single requirement.

  • Strong illustration or visual craft with working motion ability, enough to craft original animated work without needing deep motion-animation specialism. Able to originate new work, beyond adapting or compositing existing assets.
  • Experienced across illustration, motion graphics, and digital brand work – around five years and above as an indicative reference point, though skills and portfolio strength matter more than the exact number.
  • Skilled in production tools for illustration and motion – Figma and Lottie are core, alongside Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects) or equivalent motion and design tools.
  • Understands performance and file-size discipline for digital assets, treating load time and render cost as your own responsibility, built into the craft from the start.
  • Comfortable with fast-moving, deadline-driven campaign work, especially around festive and seasonal peaks.
  • Comfortable contributing to the wider design system where your work touches shared visual patterns or components, including helping define motion tokens such as easing, duration, and choreography.
  • Actively using AI tools in ideation and production – craft comes first, with strong foundational illustration and motion skills as the base – and reviewing generated assets for provenance, IP, and brand consistency before they’re used.
  • Adaptable to working within a regulated banking environment, understanding brand and compliance requirements for customer-facing content.
  • Portfolio and Case Studies – Show one idea holding up across formats and surfaces, for example a hero moment, a short cutdown, and a small in-app loop, without losing the idea. A reel or portfolio that shows your range across illustration, motion, and visual design, ideally including campaign or product-context work alongside standalone motion pieces, plus evidence of systems thinking such as icon systems or reusable patterns where you have it.

Nice to have:

  • Experience structuring visual or motion assets so they can be extended or accelerated with AI-assisted tools.

What we offer:

Competitive base salary. A suite of holistic, flexible benefits to suit every lifestyle. Community initiatives. Industry-leading learning and professional development opportunities. Your wellbeing, growth and aspirations are every bit as cared for as the needs of our customers.
