Join the Global Markets Macro Research team at OCBC and gain hands-on experience in the world of macroeconomic research and financial markets. As a Global Markets Research Intern, you’ll have the opportunity to work alongside experienced research analysts, contribute to the development of market intelligence, and gain exposure to the inner workings of the bank’s macro research function. This internship will position you for future opportunities in finance, economics, and related fields.

How you succeed

To excel in this role, you’ll need to be a motivated and detail-oriented individual with a strong passion for financial markets and macroeconomics. You’ll work closely with the research team to analyze market data, create research reports, and present findings to clients and stakeholders. Your ability to think critically, communicate complex ideas effectively, and work collaboratively with others will be crucial in driving results.

What you do

Your responsibilities will include:

• Data Mining and Analysis: assist the Macro Research team in collecting and analyzing data on financial markets, macroeconomic trends, and industry news

• Research and Analysis: conduct research on financial markets, macroeconomic trends, and industry news, and create financial models, charts, and other visual aids to support the team’s research

• Market Monitoring: monitor and track key economic indicators and market trends, and provide insights to the research team

• Report Preparation: assist with the preparation of reports, presentations, and other deliverables for clients and senior management

• Collaboration: work closely with other teams within the organization to ensure timely and accurate delivery of information

• Team Contributions: participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions on research findings and opportunities

Who you are

• Strong interest in financial markets, macroeconomics, and global affairs

• Excellent research and analytical skills with a keen eye for details

• Good interpersonal and presentation skills

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word

• Programming skills (optional but advantageous)

• Currently pursuing a degree in finance, economics, or a related field

Learning Objectives

This internship will provide you with:

• Hands-on experience in macroeconomic research and financial markets

• Exposure to the inner workings of the bank’s macro research function

• Development of research and analysis skills, including financial modeling and data analysis

• Opportunity to work with experienced research analysts and build relationships with stakeholders

• Practical experience in creating research reports and presenting findings to clients and stakeholders

• Training on financial platforms and databases such as Bloomberg, Eikon, and CEIC
