Make an Impact by:

  • To ensure the contractors follow safety procedure in accordance to the work health and safety act (WHSA) and to use appropriate safety equipment so as to complete the assigned job efficiently and safely.
  • To supervise contractors to execute all pipeline works covering laying of new and top up pipes and the maintenance of the pipes in the area under his control in accordance with all established operation procedures and engineering instructions.
  • Ensure that target dates for the completion of all the pipeline works are met so that cables can be laid and services can be provided expeditiously to customers.
  • Take charge of the maintenance of the pipeline network and attend to emergency service breakdowns during and after office hours.
  • To spot-check and identify potential safety hazards at site and ensure that temporary road closure signs are always displayed by technicians and contractors at work-site in accordance with LTA requirements.
  • To witness the pipe testing and confirm the pipes are fit for use before signing off to accept the pipes.
  • To apply LTA road opening application and power grid and power gas NCE application.
  • To close all LTA applications once final reinstatement/Mill&Patch work is completed by contractor.
  • To issue pipeline material & process contractor claim submissions.
  • To liase with internal parties on pipeline project implementation issues.
  • To compile and update contractor progress report for weekly diversion meeting.
  • Compile statistical reports on fiber network performance.
  • To liaise and coordinate with the Change Notification team for fiber diversion works.
  • To learn and use the Change Management system to create and close CTTS tickets.
  • To learn and use the NLT MARS system for manhole access application for contractors.
  • To learn and use SAP to issue fiber material vouchers to contractors.
  • To check and clear contractor submitted claims using DFF system.
  • To be on standby and attend to fiber cable faults related to fiber diversion works.
  • To supervise technicians and contractors to execute all access fibre cable works in the area under his control in accordance with all established operation procedures and engineering instructions.
  • Responsible for all fibre cable diversion works including those in conjunction with road diversion and major government agencies.
  • Ensure that target handover dates for all fibre cable projects are met.
  • To liaise with building management and manage contractors for the fiber cable diversion works.
  • To take ownership and manage staff on fibre splicing, fibre termination, fibre patching and fiber testing for all cable diversion works.
  • To liaise with internal parties on fiber implementation issues.
  • To be well-versed and knowledgeable in fiber equipment for fiber cable troubleshooting.

Skills for Success:

  • Diploma in Engineering, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in fiber optics installation and maintenance.

  • Strong understanding of safety regulations and compliance.

  • Proficient in project management and documentation.

  • Experience in managing contractors and project timelines.

  • Technical expertise in fiber splicing, termination, and testing.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team, adapting to various work environments and customer requirements.

  • Highly motivated and able to work independently under pressure.

  • Independent and capable of decision making and problem solving.

  • Valid Class 3 driving license.

  • Able to work during non-office hours to support network incidents and restoration.
