Responsibilities:
- Responsible for operations of SDH/DWDM Transmission equipment, backbone transmission networks and Network Management System (NMS)
- Test and provision of SDH/DWDM, voice, IP, carrier Ethernet backbone circuits and local loops
- Perform pre-service testing and implementation of transmission links
- Make arrangement with vendor/customer for repair of the system equipment.
- Perform regular back-up of system configuration and performance data in the Network Management System (NMS) and Element Manager Layer (EML) servers
- Supervise the installation and upgrading of station facilities equipment and ensure that the project is implemented in the schedule timeline
- Be part of the project team to deploy (install, test and commission) DWDM network and subsequently provide the maintenance support
- Support Project manager to liaise with customers, team members and partners on network deployment and acceptance testing
- Perform any other duties from the project manager or maintenance manager.
- As project engineer and responsible for accomplishment of acceptance of the network at site
- To supervise and manage the contractors on site doing the physical activities
- To provide inputs to project manager as and when needed.
- Provide regular and timely project progress update to the customer/project manager
- Handle the incidents and provide quality maintenance support for the network
The ideal profile should have:
- One years of minimum experience in telecommunications.
- Required knowledge and experience with SONET/SDH/ DWDM/ L2 Switches networks, SONET/SDH/ DWDM/ L2 switches network elements.
- Experience with researching, investigating, evaluating, and qualifying potential new equipment for network deployment.
- Knowledge and background with AC and DC power systems, fiber optic transmission and transmission systems, and electrical cabling and transmission systems.
- Experience with optical link loss budget analysis for DWDM and SONET/SDH optical links.
- Proven problem-solving skills with experience and background in solving complex design, network, and circuit problems and issues.
- Proven ability to engage with and communicate with customers, vendors, service providers, employees, and various business contacts in a professional and Courteous manner.
- The ability to work “on-call” and off office hours as required to support network and equipment maintenance, upgrades, and service interruptions.
