The Category Manager, SDN/Enterprise Services is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies within the SDN and Enterprise Services category for buy-to-sell and project procurement, to drive cost savings and sourcing efficiencies while balancing against the needs of the business stakeholders.
The desired candidate is required to keep abreast of supply market/ economic changes and proficient in application of appropriate sourcing levers to the respective categories and become familiar with and fully exploit the procurement toolset provide to manage procurement activities and collaboration with the business. The candidate should also be able to hone his/her people skills to achieve balance between internal customer experience and compliance to policy.
As time to market is critical in the buy-to-sell environment, the Category Manager must partner the business unit / product team early at the deal development stage to optimise vendor strategy negotiation outcomes
Make An Impact By
- Drive cost optimisation initiatives in assigned category supporting BU / Product.
- Strategic sourcing and tender management for ICT services such as NFV, Enterprise Services/Global Delivery, International Data Network & SDWAN in collaboration with Singtel Group Procurement and other Singtel Group OpCo Procurement teams where applicable.
- Develop category strategies through spend analysis and partner with key business stakeholders to drive strategic sourcing.
- Drive key sourcing events, map negotiation strategies, lead negotiations and drive cost savings.
- Provide market knowledge, intelligence and expertise to business stakeholders.
- Partner the BU / Product early at the deal development stage to optimise vendor strategy negotiation outcomes.
- Move up the procurement value chain into the pre-sales stage to align vendor strategy and approach
- Responsible for leading deal by deal procurement for buy-to-sell (B2S) spend in the category / project procurement process for Enterprise Business, driving procurement cost optimisation
- Lead vendor selection and price negotiation in the category / project procurement process, leveraging relevant strategic sourcing initiatives.
- Take lead on managing end-to-end procurement process for Buy-To-Sell. (hardware/software/services, including vendor selection (in most cases), pricing negotiation, order placement, order fulfilment, and vendor performance management
Supplier Management
- Foster partnership with key suppliers to identify and implement cost improvement initiatives in alignment with category strategies.
- Manage strategic supplier relationships and performance through regular supplier meetings, business reviews and suppliers’ performance evaluations for continuous improvement to deliver new value-add
- Manage vendor performance and provide timely vendor feedback to Global Partnership / Vendor Management team
- Ensure BU / Product stakeholders comply to policy in their procurement activities
- Ensure that procurement process is managed in adherence to existing procurement policies and processes
- Review and ensure compliance for vendor contract award requests from stakeholders
- Support order placement and fulfilment with the vendors
- Guide business users on procurement policies and practices
- Review current category procurement processes and policies to identify key pain points and bottlenecks and recommend changes.
- Optimise procurement processes for faster business turnaround
- Improve and streamline procurement related business processes by taking an End-to-End ownership perspective relating to people and business workflows.
- Enhance business processes from pre to post sales stages, and contract award to PO stages.
- Work with internal stakeholders and Enterprise Procurement systems team to enhance systems and processes e.g. VQS & QH
Category Management
- Assist in the initiation of innovative category management and sourcing strategies, develop cross-divisional procurement processes, and implement optimum sourcing strategies with qualified suppliers to lay the foundation for procurement success and to achieve a maximum contribution to the operating result.
- Require having strong analytics capability within sourcing function in order to enable detailed analysis of key categories and support recommended spend and buy better strategies.
- Manage reporting of category performance, including flagging out of issues and challenges and propose resolutions.
Skills To Succeed
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, or related field
- 3 to 5 years experience in buy-to-sell ICT product sourcing, procurement category management or relevant experience
- Experience in leading and conducting supplier negotiations
- Broad experience working across entire procurement process, from supplier selection to order fulfilment
- Experience in support roles which drive top / bottom line
- Ariba, SAP S4 HANA, Procure to Pay, VQS
- Domain knowledge in Telco and ICT products and services
