Job Summary

This is an ASEAN Cluster / Singapore Business finance partner role with the Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) segment, providing financial analysis on CIB performance to senior management for the formulation and review of CIB business plans and strategies. This includes analysis of CIB cluster and country performance (financial, origination and franchise views), review and highlight risks and opportunities, as well as drive actions to ensure committed financial outcome. The role involves working with multiple stakeholders across different businesses, functions and geographies. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Strategy
•    Partner with SG and ASEAN CIB business to help drive the business strategy, optimise returns and deliver commercial outcomes

 

Business
•    Provide performance analytics and actionable insights to enable the business to make informed strategic and financial decisions. This includes forecasting of financial performance, returns, balance sheet and margins analysis
•    Review CIB income movement to ensure accuracy in the financials (including transfer pricing) and provide commentaries to management on material movements; Work with various finance teams to ensure month end numbers are accurately reported and any anomalies are investigated and resolved timely
•    Manage the monthly outlook process and annual budget to support strategic aspirations of CIB business and align with Group plans

 

Processes
•    To be the finance business partner to the CIB business, providing support on all finance related matters
•    Work with FRM and SG ALCO on management of SG balance sheet, capital and liquidity for strategic planning, as well as RWA forecast
•    Manage all regular and ad-hoc requests/ deliverables from stakeholders (e.g. Group Finance, MBR, CMT, CRAFT/MAS, ICAAP/IWST, EY Audit, Audit Committee, Board).
•    Review any methodology changes and assess impact on the CIB financials, to ensure accurate reporting is used for business decision making

People & Talent 
•    Work closely with India team on the monthly reporting process to ensure accurate and timely delivery of reports to support business discussions, as well as ad-hoc reporting requests for business presentations, strategy discussions, etc.

 

Risk Management
•    Participate and contribute in risk discussions as required to facilitate better external and internal communication of SG WRB’s risk matters impacting financial performance. 

 

Governance 
•    Awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework in which SG operates and the regulatory requirements and expectations to the role
•    Ensure compliance with Group/ IFRS accounting principles and practices, Financial Control Policy and other regulatory accounting guidelines; Ensure timely and accurate submission of financial returns to internal and external authorities and stakeholders.

•    Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. •    Lead the SG / ASEAN cluster CIB business finance team] to achieve the outcomes set out in the Bank’s Conduct Principles 
•    Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.

Our Ideal Candidate

•    15+ years relevant experience in finance at a leading global financial services firm, preferably banking
•    Qualified Accountant i.e., CPA, CMA, ACCA or equivalent, or MBA (Finance) or other relevant qualification is preferred
•    Experienced in corporate and investment banking products (such as transaction banking, lending/ financing and financial markets)
•    Good knowledge on international accounting standard requirements, booking model and accounting treatments for banking products
