JOB SUMMARY

To produce high quality natural gas, energy and other commodities research for internal and external stakeholders, provide advisory services for the Bank’s clients and build the Bank’s profile as a thought-leader in energy and other commodities across media and clients.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategy/Business

•    Identify and escalate key market trends for management consideration 
•    Act as a trusted advisor to management on energy and other commodities and market related implications
•    Foster strong relationships with key internal relationships with key internal stakeholders – commodities trading, sales and structuring. 
•    Gain client share of mind and deliver world-class commodities research and advice to external clients and key internal stakeholders. 
•    Explain key commodities trends, forecasts and strategies in clear and direct terms, appropriate for a wide range of audiences. 
•    Communicate the house views on commodities both within the bank and also externally to the client base and via key media outlets. 
•    Coordinate and support the relationship between commodities research and regional economists. Produce publications, both individually and as part of the wider commodities research team. 
•    Interact closely with the trading desk to promote two-way information flow and the leveraging of research. To meet and participate in team wide objectives 
•    To work closely with other team members in supporting the building of the profile and reputation of the commodities research group as a whole  
•    Foster positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders with interests in commodities at appropriate level ensuring open cooperative environment

•    Lead through example and build the appropriate culture and values. Share and spread the knowledge among the colleagues in the Global Research team and work in collaboration with risk and control partners.

•    Developing an awareness and understanding of the main risks facing the Group and the role the individual plays in managing them.
•    Ensuring a full understanding of the risk and control environment within Global Research. 

Governance

•    Demonstrate awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework, in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role.

•    Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct. 
•    Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
•    Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.
•    Contribute to the Global Research team to achieve the outcomes set out in the Bank’s Conduct Principles: Fair Outcomes for Clients; Effective Financial Markets; Financial Crime Compliance; The Right Environment.

Our Ideal Candidate

  •  5 plus years experience in commodities preferably in a bank.
  • Advanced Product Knowledge in commodities. 
  • Advanced Financial Analysis.
  • Advanced Client relationships.
  • Intermediate People management
