You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. Amazon is looking for a talented, customer-obsessed and open-minded procurement expert to work within our Data Center Sourcing & Procurement team based in Singapore. This role offers the unique opportunity to gain insight into the Data Center industry working with AWS infrastructure teams and service vendors in the Asia region. Our team ensures availability of 3rd party resources to perform services to the highest safety & quality standards in a timely, efficient and cost-effective manner.

The ideal candidate thinks long term, drives multiple initiatives, and communicates appropriately and influences customers and suppliers at all levels. You must be collaborative but also work with significant autonomy. To be successful in this role, you must be analytical; think strategically; have a sense of urgency to meet customer timelines; exhibit curiosity and learning drive; engage and influence key stakeholders; and have a high level of customer focus.

We welcome candidates from various backgrounds including manufacturing, construction, facilities management, IT or other vendor-facing roles who are eager to learn about data center procurement.

Key job responsibilities
– Manage infrastructure delivery & engineering supplier end to end procurement for your allocated countries, including:
– Work intimately with your internal stakeholders to understand their service supplier needs and develop long-term sourcing strategies for them.
– Provide the business in-depth knowledge about your suppliers capabilities, technical and geographically considerations.
– Develop and own the supplier selection process, contract negotiations and on boarding.
– Develop mechanisms and metrics to track supplier performance related to on time delivery, safety, quality, and cost.
– Lead business reviews with suppliers to improve supplier performance and strengthen business partnerships.
– Achieve best market value through rate cards & bidding. Unlock savings via strategic initiatives through collaboration with between your internal stakeholders and suppliers.
– Innovate the procurement process, automating and/or improving tools or processes to better support the Procurement Lifecycle.
– Advice your internal stakeholders on procurement governance, procedures and policies.

A day in the life
– Engaging with your internal stakeholders on their procurement needs.
– Analysis of the supplier market.
– Supplier selection, contract negotiation and on boarding.
– Preparing and managing requests for pricing, proposal or information.
– Bid Analysis, rate card negotiation and maintenance.
– Vendor business and performance reviews.
– Demand forecasting & Vendor Capacity Tracking.
– Conducting supplier contract negotiations.
– Identifying and executing on opportunities to implement more efficient processes or improve the performance of our vendors.
– Manage supplier escalations.

Basic Qualifications

– 5+ years of work in a procurement organization, performing vendor management, contract management, negotiating complex purchases, and bidding experience
– Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Finance, or a related technical field
– Experience in strategic sourcing including vendor negotiations, global contract management, process improvement, operational and financial analysis
– Experience delivering results for large, cross-functional initiatives/projects

Preferred Qualifications

– Experience in data centers, infrastructure service providers, or related technology companies
– Experience that includes strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities
