Roles and Responsibilities:

Credit Research sits within Global Markets, helping the group’s clients and internal stakeholders stay one step ahead in credit market developments. As a credit research analyst within OCBC Research, you will support the production of independent, high-quality fundamental credit research for the OCBC Research Credit Research Team, while also contributing to the generation of sector-level insights and thematic reports to support the sales and trading strategies for the group’s clients.

This position is ideally suited for an analytically curious and proactive individual who is developing expertise in credit research and seeks to build a long-term career as a sell-side analyst within a leading financial institution. The successful candidate will combine their analytical skills with solid written and verbal communication abilities to support the delivery of actionable investment views and market commentary that enhance the group’s client offering and internal decision-making processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fundamental Credit Research

Conduct fundamental and relative-value analysis on a defined list of corporate and/or financial services credits under the guidance of senior analysts. Monitor current developments in macro-economic and credit markets to assess evolving risk profiles. Maintain credit assessments and financial models for assigned issuers.

  • Sector and Thematic Research

Contribute to sector outlooks and comparative analyses periodically and when necessary, by collecting and analysing market data that highlights key credit drivers, market trends, and relative-value opportunities. Monitoring structural, regulatory, or macroeconomic trends impacting credit markets to support the generation of thematic research pieces. Assist in the effective distribution of research through charts, data, and comparative analyses to support published reports, client calls, and presentations.

  • External and Internal Client Engagement, Market Monitoring

Support client marketing initiatives, issuer and investor meetings, and public conferences that represent the group’s credit research capabilities. Contribute to relevant media outreach opportunities that build OCBC’s brand awareness across multiple platforms. Monitor relevant news flow, spreads, and primary/secondary market activity to identify material changes in credit sentiment and provide timely updates and summaries to internal stakeholders (sales, trading, strategy, and risk teams). Contribute to internal research briefings and strategy discussions as required.

  • Research Production and Client Support

Ensure research outputs meet the group’s quality, compliance, and branding requirements. Address and resolve any compliance or distribution issues for the Credit Research team. Support client requests and queries in coordination with senior analysts and sales teams. Ensuring compliance with internal policies (in particular trading and conflict of interest) and MAS regulations as is relevant to research analysts.

Requirements

Minimum of 2-5 years’ experience in credit research, fixed income, investment banking, or a related analytical role. Solid foundation in financial statement analysis, creation and analysis of credit metrics, and relative valuation methodologies. Familiarity with bond markets, capital structures, and rating agency frameworks. Proficiency in Bloomberg, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; experience in data analytics or automation tools (e.g. Python, VBA) is a plus. Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; CFA or progress toward CFA designation preferred. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Familiarity and interest in sustainability topics is a plus.
