As a Testing Engineer, you’ll play a critical role in identifying and resolving issues, contributing to the bank’s reputation for reliability and trustworthiness.

How you succeed

The Test Environment Engineer (UNIX & Middleware) is responsible for ensuring the availability, stability, and operational readiness of test environments supporting enterprise and banking applications. The role supports testing activities by providing UNIX and middleware expertise, proactive environment management, crossteam coordination, and continuous operational improvement. The role additionally provides governance oversight, risk management, and strategic direction for test environment services.

What you do

  • Manage endtoend test environment activities including tracking, reviewing, monitoring, and resolving environmentrelated issues and requirements.

  • Provide Level 1 operational support and troubleshooting for UNIX and middleware components to ensure test environments are operationally ready.

  • Own test environment availability and ensure timely resolution or escalation of incidents in accordance with service expectations.

  • Prepare and disseminate daily test environment status reports to stakeholders.

  • Proactively identify recurring environment issues and recommend improvement initiatives such as capacity planning, housekeeping, and automation of system health checks.

  • Coordinate with infrastructure, application, database, vendor, and other support teams to resolve environmentrelated issues.

  • Monitor batch jobs, scheduled tasks, and messagedriven processes in test environments.

  • Communicate planned and unplanned test environment downtime to all relevant stakeholders in a timely manner.

  • Maintain accurate environment documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and operational runbooks.

  • Support environment configuration changes, restarts, validation, and readiness activities during testing cycles.

  • Assist application teams in diagnosing and resolving integration and connectivity issues across UNIX, middleware, and database layers.

  • Ensure compliance with internal IT controls, operational standards, and regulatory requirements.

Who you are

Education

  • Diploma or Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or an equivalent technical discipline.

Technical Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of hands‑on experience supporting middleware technologies, including but not limited to: IBM MQ/WebLogic/WebSphere/JBoss/Apache/Connect:Direct/SSH Tectia/API/SOAP UI/cron/Control‑M

  • Minimum 3 years of UNIX experience (RHEL, AIX, Solaris, or other Linux distributions).

  • Strong scripting or development experience in one or more of the following: Bash/Shell/Perl/Python/Java/JSON/XML/SOAP

Knowledge & Competencies

  • Good understanding of financial services systems and generic banking application architecture.

  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities concurrently in a fast‑paced environment.

  • Understanding of middleware interactions across operating systems, applications, and databases.

  • Experience monitoring middleware services, application logs, batch jobs, and message queues.

  • Familiarity with environment change, restart, and validation activities during test cycles.

  • Proactive risk identification and mitigation mindset.

Soft Skills & Behaviours

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders across regional teams.

  • Experience using collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams, Excel, and Word.

  • Strong teamwork and knowledge‑sharing attitude.
