Working closely with the GPUaaS IT Operations team, the role ensures infrastructure readiness, operational reliability, and service availability. It also supports the operation and maintenance of mission-critical mechanical, electrical, and cooling systems, including advanced liquid cooling technologies, to meet the power and thermal demands of AI and GPU-based workloads.

Responsibilities

  • Support the DC Operations Manager in maintaining 24/7 operational readiness of the data centre environment to ensure maximum uptime, service reliability, and compliance with internal and external service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Collaborate with GPUaaS IT Operations teams to coordinate the deployment, onboarding, relocation, and decommissioning of GPU and IT equipment.
  • Perform electrical load balancing assessments, failover analysis, and support air-cooled and liquid-cooled infrastructure operations.
  • Support the deployment, operation, and maintenance of liquid cooling infrastructure, including cooling distribution units (CDUs), heat exchangers, piping networks, leak detection systems, and associated equipment.
  • Conduct routine operational and maintenance activities such as pressure testing, coolant quality monitoring, filter replacement, and leak management.
  • Monitor system performance indicators, including thermal efficiency, flow rates, leak detection systems, and overall cooling effectiveness.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, industry standards, workplace safety regulations, environmental requirements, and operational procedures.
  • Identify operational risks related to leaks, condensation, corrosion, equipment failures, and environmental conditions, and implement appropriate mitigation measures.
  • Manage and oversee preventive and corrective maintenance programmes for mechanical and electrical systems, including CDUs, CRAUs, FCUs, pumps, valves, fire protection systems, and associated infrastructure.
  • Plan and support data centre infrastructure projects, including upgrades, retrofits, capacity expansion, and system enhancements, ensuring delivery within agreed scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Conduct operational risk assessments, develop failure scenarios, and maintain contingency and emergency response plans for critical infrastructure events.
  • Provide technical guidance and operational support to DC Operations teams in the monitoring, operation, and troubleshooting of mechanical and electrical systems, with emphasis on liquid cooling technologies.
  • Support incident management activities, root cause analysis (RCA), corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor and report key performance indicators (KPIs) related to infrastructure reliability, availability, energy efficiency, and utilisation of power, cooling, and rack capacity.
  • Drive initiatives to improve cooling efficiency, optimise energy consumption, and support sustainability objectives.
  • Manage vendor and contractor activities, ensuring compliance with SLAs, safety requirements, site access controls, and permit-to-work procedures.
  • Support internal and external audits by maintaining accurate documentation, records, and evidence of compliance.

Requirements

  • Diploma or higher qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, HVAC Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • At least 6 years of relevant experience in HVAC operations and maintenance within mission-critical environments such as data centres, industrial facilities, or similar high-availability operations.
  • Experience operating or supporting high-density data centre environments; exposure to liquid cooling technologies will be advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC system design principles, operational performance optimisation, and energy efficiency strategies.
  • Familiarity with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices relating to HVAC systems, building infrastructure, and data centre operations.
  • Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS), Energy Management Systems (EMS), and related monitoring and control platforms.
  • Demonstrated experience managing maintenance programmes, vendor relationships, and infrastructure projects.
