Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced IBM AIX Level 3 Support Engineer to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in IBM AIX operating systems and related technologies, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex hardware and software issues. This role involves performing advanced system administration tasks, optimizing system performance, managing patching processes using BigFix, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of AIX systems within the broader IT infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide Level 3 support for IBM AIX operating systems and associated technologies.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex hardware and software issues on IBM AIX systems.

  • Perform system administration tasks including installation, configuration, and maintenance of AIX servers.

  • Manage virtualization technologies such as SR-IOV, Shared Ethernet Adapter (SEA), PowerVM Virtual I/O Server (VIOS), HACMP, and others.

  • Monitor system performance and implement necessary adjustments to optimize efficiency and reliability.

  • Manage and execute patching processes on AIX systems using BigFix to ensure systems are up-to-date and secure.

  • Collaborate with other IT teams to integrate AIX systems into the overall IT infrastructure.

  • Develop, update, and maintain comprehensive documentation related to AIX systems and configurations.

  • Participate in on-call rotation and respond promptly to critical incidents.

  • Identify and implement security measures to safeguard AIX systems against potential threats.

  • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends related to AIX, virtualization, and patch management.

Qualifications:

  • Proven 6+ years experience managing complex IBM AIX environments.

  • Strong knowledge of IBM AIX operating system and virtualization technologies (SR-IOV, SEA, PowerVM VIOS, HACMP).

  • Experience with BigFix patch management for AIX systems.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Relevant certifications such as IBM Certified Specialist – Power Systems or IBM Certified Advanced Technical Expert – Power Systems are highly desirable.

Preferred Skills:

  • Strong communication and documentation skills.

  • Experience with incident management and on-call support.

  • Familiarity with security best practices for AIX systems
