About our Banking and Coverage team
- Our Banking and Coverage team owns and leads the management and development of our Client Relationships globally. They work across our global network with product partners to deliver working capital, financing, trade, cash, and market solutions for our clients. The solutions include varied products and services, from sustainable trade finance to credit derivatives, to mergers and acquisitions advisory.

Job Summary :
Financial Technology (“FinTech”) entities offer several products and services by leveraging advancements in mobile and computing technology and providing consumers greater access to financial services and wider choice of financial products. The Global FinTech segment is a key growth sector and focus of the bank and is as one of the fastest growing sub-segment within Corporate and Institutional Banking (CIB) the team is expanding.
This role is to assume all the Relationship Management responsibilities for the Fintech client segment in Standard Chartered Financial Institutions segment within the CIB group based in Singapore. The role is to support the growing portfolio of inbound clients from the wider SCB network and to support areas relating to origination and business development for Fintech client relationships within Singapore and the region.
- The Singapore Fintech Team as part of the wider Banks & Brokers Dealers is looking for a Director to join us as a pivotal member for the growth of the Singapore and global Fintech portfolio.
- Working in the role will be required to have the ability of strong communication skills, client origination skills, and the understanding of the relevant products and the specific knowledge and experience in identifying and managing all Risks related pertaining to the Fintech sector clients. – (i) On-boarding, (ii) Financial Crime, (iii) Regulatory, (iv) Transactional, (v) Operational, (vi) Credit and (vii) Reputational
- The successful candidate will be expected to support origination of client relationships in Singapore and. support the inbound names from other key SCB locations such as the US and UK.
- To support in the management of cross-sell opportunities with the existing clients within the Singapore Fintech portfolio.
- Candidate will be required to maintain a well-informed and forward-looking view of the client business, stay current on all aspects of the assigned portfolio, including industry trends within Fintech and digital assets.
- Prepare and present on-boarding memos, credit discussion memos and client pitch books. Lead client engagement and due diligence meetings to support these outcomes across the product segments.
- Maintain a strong working relationship with Product, Financial Credit Risk, Legal and Compliance and other key stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Strategy*
- The strategy is to focus on Fintech clients offering products and services such as Stored Value Card providers, Mobile/Digital Wallet Providers, Payment Service Providers, Third Party Payment Providers, Paytech and digital asset companies.
- Work with other FinTech RM and product teams to formulate country and regional direct client strategy and support SCB group stakeholders in line with the bank’s corporate plan towards Fintech.
Business*
- Engage key stakeholders from the client side to improve the quality of dialogue and achieve trusted advisor status through proactive consistent coverage. Anticipate clients’ needs and provide strategic advice, alongside the relevant product and industry partners to support their growth.
- Work to share and distribute industry and product knowledge to ensure continually developed personally and within the wider Fintech team.
- Stay abreast with industry developments and the regulatory environment that affect our client’s agenda and strategy.
Processes*
Proactively manage the designated client portfolio to ensure:
- Close ties key stakeholders e.g. Transaction Banking, Financial Markets, Risk, Service Delivery, etc.
- Ensure client risks are appropriately identified and managed.
- Ensure to maintain being suitably trained with respect to an understanding of the regulatory environment, keeping up to date with applicable changes and Group policies with ability to contribute and, where possible.
- Key regulatory risks and concerns are raised into the governance framework throughout the Fintech/NPM & FI team.
- All sales disciplines are adhered in accordance with CIB/GB standards i.e. Account Planning, Call Reports, Deal Pipeline Management.
Risk Management*
- Take the initiative regarding regulatory, reputational risks and building one’s overall understanding of them and how they can relate to the associated risks from the client segment
- Ensure that key regulatory risks and concerns are raised into the governance framework and globally through your people leader and FI matrix as first line of defence.
- Awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework, in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role.
- Responsible for delivering ‘effective governance’; capability to challenge fellow executives effectively; and willingness to work with any local regulators in an open and cooperative manner.
Governance*
- Responsible for supporting the effectiveness of the Group’s arrangements to deliver strong governance, oversight, and controls in the Fintech business and, if necessary, oversee changes in these areas.
- Awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework, in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role.
- Responsible for delivering ‘effective governance’; capability to challenge fellow executives effectively; and willingness to work with any local regulators in an open and cooperative manner.

Key Stakeholders
Internal:
- Engage with Global members of the Fintech team and alongside product partners within the country, region and globally to ensure the breadth and depth of client coverage is maintained.
- Engage with all areas of the integrated middle office team on relevant client account management activities.
- Consult with senior stakeholders in Risk and Legal & Compliance to ensure that the portfolio remains credit worthy and within the policies of the bank.
External:
- Designated point of contact with Fintech clients, acting as a trusted advisor/value added partner to clients.
- Peers in the Fintech/NPM segment.
Other Responsibilities*

Our Ideal candidate
- Fintech RM certified – this can be done at any stage (before or after being hired).
- Knowledge and understanding of Fintech, and the Digital Asset sector and regulatory environment
- 5 years’ experience in Fintech and or financial institution client relationship, cash management, transaction banking, merchant acquiring or related field
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to synthesize complex problems into concise conclusions
- Ability to mobilize internal networks and resource to support client onboarding and opportunities
- Goal oriented with the ability to foster innovation and solve problems creatively
- Strong time management, organizational and planning skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities concurrently and coordinate follow-up
