JOB SUMMARY
- The Business Planning Manager will be responsible to work with the Global Head, Strategic Advisory & Solutions (SAS) to drive business performance and results through: 1) Corporate Planning & business strategy execution, 2) Sales enablement, 3) People agenda, 4) Content, Marketing and Communication, 5) Project management. He will support the 4 SAS teams: Capital Structure and Rating Advisory, Transition Finance, Islamic Banking and RMBI Internationalisation. He will join the Strategic Advisory & Solutions Management Team as a permanent member. The Business Planning Manager will work closely with the various SAS Global Heads and teams, Finance, HR, CABM and COO teams as well as the other CIB Chief of Staff teams.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategy
- Work with Global Leads to define annually their respective business strategic priorities, manage synergies and translate the priorities into strategic initiatives.
- Help organise and support annual or ad hoc strategy days to plan annual strategy and plans.
- Coordinate the preparation of Corporate Plans across SAS along with Finance.
- Help prepare each team’s scorecards (metrics and targets) including P&L contribution, quantity and quality of client engagements, content production / marketing and risk and governance.
- Work with Finance to produce monthly financial performance MI for each team (incl. reconciliation when required), as well as a consolidated $ income contribution from SAS.
- Analyse P&L and balance sheet performance. Carryout periodic portfolio trend analysis (Rate cut/hike, RWA as and when required etc). Lead client wise revenue analysis.
- Support segment and country review packs and business performance reviews.
- Support teams to go after the right set of target clients – leveraging CIB client account plan analysis (including share of wallet) and coordinating cross-team priorities.
- Manage regular pipeline meetings (materials, actions and notes). Ensure pipeline is up to date and reflects an accurate picture of business momentum.
- Support strategic presentations / papers, and various ad-hoc analysis / updates for presentations to internal stakeholders.
- Manage cost budget, tracking and monitoring across SAS (including cost centers).
Business
- Support the creation, curation and distribution of content produced by each team (material and videos). This includes curating, driving adoption and tracking the use of CIB Content Platform (Seismic) and working closely with the CRMx team to continue to enhance the platform as needed.
- Provide regular content for media engagement / interviews.
- Develop / Manage annual marketing and communication plan – with CABM (includes Interviews, Events)
- Explore collaboration with WRB: Marketing + visibility in SAS more broadly
- Support Award nominations submissions as required (Islamic Banking, RMBI).
- Support annual SAS client survey.
- Coordinate SAS training programme including regular sessions on evolving trends (Transition, Islamic, RMB, Sectors).
- Manage CRMx access request approvals (for CC and non-CC staff) and support/ approve CRM static data maintenance, i.e. change in client segment, client group tagging, RM changes and group creation.
- Coordinate with CRMx Program Leadership on product roadmap delivery schedules and be familiar with the capabilities, to assist and aid in the go-live launches (as appropriate.)
Processes
- Lead global initiatives which will help SAS to scale, in particular: 1) Use of Acuity resources for research, data consolidation, etc, 2) Use of Williams Lea for material production, 3) Use of AI.
- Represent SAS for the execution and tracking of initiatives led outside SAS (e.g. CRMx / Sales Enablement, Client Strategy, etc).
- Lead specific initiatives as and when relevant.
People & Talent
- Define with Global SAS Head a plan and set of initiatives to deliver against HR objectives and initiatives.
- Support Diversity and Inclusion initiatives & targets.
- Support various teams’ scorecard design and tracking – in line with SAS strategy and priorities.
- Support the annual P3 process (compensation, bonus, promotions, etc).
- Track headcount and review consistent use of Job Families (in particular, for new employees).
- Oversee the IG/ Internship/ Apprenticeship/ Short Term Assignments (STAs) programmes (requests, allocation, coordination of rotations, post programme hiring, etc).
- Support and coordinate training offering for the team (
Risk Management
- Support Risk & Control topics (e.g. PPG, COI, etc) as relevant.
- Support SAS Conduct Plan and annual It Matters cycle.
Governance
- Manage SAS Management Team meetings (agenda, actions) as a permanent member of the MT
- Support Saadiq Management Group (SMG) meetings (2x per year)
- Ensure all Global Heads have the required sources of authority and delegations (GDAM, etc).
- Execute on any required approvals as per the authority delegated from Global SAS Head.
- Act as delegate for Global SAS Head for committees as needed.
