About the Role: The AVP/VP of Marketing Strategy and Operations will play a pivotal role in helping to shape and execute the marketing strategy for OCBC’s retail banking division. This position requires a holistic thinker with a strong background in marketing and advertising, ideally within the financial services sector.

 

The successful candidate will support efforts to enhance brand presence, equity and trust, customer engagement and acquisition, and operational efficiency, while aligning marketing efforts with the bank’s growth objectives. He/she will help set the strategic direction for marketing initiatives, determining appropriate audiences and tactics, and overseeing their successful execution in line with business goals.

 

This role involves regular interaction with various teams across the retail banking division and local marketing teams across Asia. The ideal candidate should possess at least 8 years of hands-on experience, be detail-oriented and capable of bridging high-level marketing strategy with campaign management and daily operations.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Marketing Strategy and Planning:

  • Develop and implement cohesive marketing strategies for special projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure campaign execution aligns with strategic goals and deliver on business objectives.
  • Guide specialist marketing functions and enhance understanding of marketplace dynamics throughout the organisation, while supporting the planning of integrated, consumer-centric marketing plans with robust testing and measurement frameworks.
  • Act as a strategic partner for marketing colleagues and collaborate with media agencies and data analytics to track campaign performance, ROI, and their impact on the business and brand health.
  • Use data-driven insights and trends to continuously evaluate and refine marketing strategies, sharing best practices with the wider team and enhancing understanding of the industry, consumer needs and barriers.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Head to set and track marketing budgets, reporting regularly on overall performance.
  • Work with market research agency to understand customer needs, preferences, and behaviours and analyse and interpret marketing performance and customer behaviour data to inform strategies.

 

Product Marketing:

·       Lead marketing initiatives for financial products and services, conducting competitive analysis and market segmentation to identify opportunities for enhancement, differentiation, and improved user experience through content and communications.

·       Track and analyse performance of product-related activities in relation to marketing initiatives to measure effectiveness and inform future strategies.

 

Growth Marketing:

  • Identify and execute growth marketing strategies to acquire new customers and deepen existing relationships.
  • Utilise customer insights and data analytics to inform growth initiatives and optimise marketing performance.

 

Brand Marketing:

  • Strengthen OCBC’s retail banking division’s brand positioning with though-leadership and campaign initiatives.
  • Oversee retail banking’s division brand campaigns and initiatives to enhance brand equity, trust, and customer loyalty.

 

Campaign Management:

·       Plan, execute, and monitor integrated marketing campaigns across channels, while analysing performance and ROI to provide actionable insights for continuous improvement

·       Foster innovation by exploring new channels and audience-centric tactics.

·       Manage the marketing budget by tracking expenditures to ensure cost-effectiveness and alignment with financial goals.

 

Operational Excellence:

·       Streamline marketing operations to improve efficiency and effectiveness in campaign execution.

·       Establish and refine marketing best practices and processes, including the development of standard operating procedures.

·       Collaborate with MarTech team in implementing and managing marketing technologies that support marketing activities.

·       Oversee the marketing budget to ensure cost-effectiveness and proper resource allocation, and ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and ethical standards.

 

Qualifications

 

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field; 
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in marketing, preferably within a financial services organisation or an advertising agency in a strategy/planning role.
  • Strong understanding of marketing principles, strategic planning, brand management, customer behaviour and market trends in financial services.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful marketing strategies and campaigns.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions.
  • Solution-oriented mindset and strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and interpersonal skills to effectively engage, inspire and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in marketing tools and software, including CRM systems, analytics platforms, and content management systems.
  • Comfortable working in a regional context, with an understanding of cultural nuances, business practices, and market dynamics across countries in Asia.
  • Thrive in a dynamic environment and comfortable with ambiguity.
