JOB SUMMARY

 

We are currently hiring for a Head of Audit Analytics at Standard Chartered. This role will be available at either Band 4 (Executive Director equivalent) or Managing Director level depending on experience. 

 

The Head of Audit Analytics is accountable to the Chief Operating Officer, Audit (COO) for:

 

  • Designing and driving the Analytics strategy and executing the plan to enable the function to be data driven and data enabled, ensuring alignment to the wider Group Internal Audit goals. This includes:
  • Driving a data-first mindset in auditors.
  • Continuous experimentation on the use of analytics in everything we do in audit (i.e. automation, AI/GenAI, RPA, video analytics etc).
  • Designing and developing programmes to enable auditors ability to adopt analytics quickly and effectively (e.g. automated self-help dashboards and testing procedures, utility tools, library, data as a service etc.).
  • Partnering with technology stakeholders to build a future proof analytics tools, platform and architecture.
  • Building analytics capabilities across the function (i.e. training programme for analytics skillsets and tools for auditors).
  • Maintaining operational excellence and compliance to Group policies and standards (e.g. data management, cybersecurity controls, Software Development Lifecycle etc).
  • Leading a team of analytics specialists (i.e. data analyst, data engineers, technologists, and data scientists), and supporting the audit teams in their analytics journey. 
  • Building a strong network with SCB stakeholders, industry peers, and professional services for continuous improvement.
  • Establish performance metrics to drive the advancement of analytics and monitor for reporting to management. Use the outcome of metrics to improve strategic execution plan. 
  • The Head of Audit Analytics leads a global team of Analytics professionals within GIA, to set the tone and help drive quality and efficiency of the Function. The Head of Audit Analytics supports the delivery of the strategy and development of the broader GIA function through providing analytical solutions to the GHOA and Audit Executive Team (AET) which enable the function to continue to become more data driven.
     

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Strategy

  • Partner with the AET, design and deliver GIA’s approach and strategies for analytics. 
  • Take the lead in continuously improving GIA’s analytics processes and products and driving efficiency across the function.
  • Ensure strong awareness and understanding of GIA’s and the Group’s business strategy and model is understood in the Analytics team and reflected in our approach as appropriate.
  • Establish performance metrics to drive the advancement of analytics and monitor for reporting to management. Use the outcome of metrics to improve strategic execution plan. 
  • Maintain an external focus including a strong network within the industry to identify trends in analytics and technology which the role holder should assess and apply to GIA to improve the function’s delivery to the organisation and benchmark GIA’s approach with global best practices.

  • Awareness and understanding of the wider business, economic and market environment in which the Group operates.
  • Accountable for ensuring the delivery of the strategy for GIA through building and leading a team of experienced analytics professionals.
  • Ensuring timely, effective, and impactful written and verbal communication with key stakeholders.

 

Processes

  • The role holder is responsible for ensuring that GIA analytics products, technology and processes are aligned to the GIA strategy.
  • Continuously enhance analytics products, technology, processes, and practices, keeping abreast of internal audit practises through research and participation in the industry internal audit forum.
  • Develop and implement solutions that enhance the audit practice, embedding the changes in the function and partnering with key stakeholders.
  • Prompt communication of the impact of Analytics work to GIA and wider stakeholders, as relevant.

People & Talent 

  • Build and lead a high-quality team of impactful analytics professionals. 
  • Lead through example and build the appropriate culture and valued behaviours. Set appropriate tone and expectations from the team and work in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Set and monitor job descriptions and objectives for direct reports and provide feedback and reward recommendations in line with their performance against those responsibilities and objectives.
  • Lead by example and build the appropriate culture and values according to Bank’s priorities/strategy
  • To promote diversity at all levels.

 

Risk Management

  • Responsible for identifying, assessing, monitoring, controlling and mitigating risks to the Group. Also, an awareness and understanding of the main risks facing the Group and the role the individual plays in managing them.

 

Governance 

  • Awareness and understanding of the regulatory and technology framework in which the Group operates.
  • Embed the Group’s values and Code of Conduct in Group Internal Audit to ensure that adherence with the highest standards of ethics, and compliance with relevant policies, processes, and regulations among employees’ form part of the culture.

Regulatory & Business Conduct 

  • Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct. 
  • Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
  • Lead the GIA Audit Analytics team to achieve the outcomes set out in the Bank’s Conduct Principles; The Right Environment; Fair Outcomes for Clients; Effective Financial Markets; Financial Crime Prevention.
  • Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.
  • PRA/FCA (and other relevant Regulators) prescribed responsibilities and rationale for allocation.

Our Ideal Candidate

  • Has a breadth of experience in either analytics and/or technology across geographies, or an experienced auditor (internal and external) or.
  • Experience of Group Audit or Risk
  • Commercially minded with significant experience in developing analytics and technology related strategies with a track record of achieving financial and non-financial targets.
  • Highly analytical and data savvy, able to tell compelling stories using data and visualisations to enable effective decisions to be made clearly and concisely.
  • Strong leadership qualities, interpersonal and people management skills with experience in managing a large cross-border team.
  • Strong communicator, both written and verbal, with ability to influence and to gain the respect of senior management, Group stakeholders, peers, and their teams. 
  • Strong sense of integrity and financial independence with an ability to challenge.
  • Confident and courageous to raise / escalate issues in a pro-active, professional, and timely manner.
  • Highly credible with their counterparts in the business.
  • Understanding of regulatory landscape and working culture across a number of geographies.
  • Self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrate understanding of and commitment to the Group’s core values.
  • Ability to commit to >20% business travel.
  • Ability to perform the role of “Change Leader”.
