Job Summary
Oversee the end-to-end management and strategy with respect to data operations, ensuring data quality, availability, and accessibility across the bank. Enhance operational efficiency and align data operations with governance principles to support business decision-making and regulatory compliance. As a strategic and senior Data and Analytics leader of the Standard Chartered Group CDO Office, and member of the Group CDO MT, set vision, partner and deliver the following responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities
Data Management Operations:
- Responsible for the bank-wide Enterprise Data Management Operations strategy, driving data quality and data life cycle management to generate business value
- Define and manage processes around data collection, data storage, data processing and data dissemination. Implement policies and procedures to maintain data quality and data validation. Effectively monitor data sources and ensure that data is properly entered, stored and maintained to ensure accuracy and reliability
- Oversee and manage data operations for the organization to ensure efficiency, quality and alignment to strategic goals of the organization
- Act as the Global Process Owner (GPO) for all CDO owned processes for all types, product owner for data defensive tools e.g. RDM, ROPRA, PIA, as well as business owner of the Bank’s data lake EDMP T1 and future Global Data Platform
- Design, develop, enforce and maintain data management artefacts like standards and guidelines to ensure key organizational objectives are met .
- Develop and implement processes to monitor, measure, and remediate data quality issues to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
- Establish and maintain robust controls to ensure the accuracy, consistency, and security of all data assets. Monitor and address root causes of data failures or inconsistencies to minimize business impact and enhance system reliability
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to address operational bottlenecks, aligning data flows with business and technology requirements
- Create dashboards and reporting tools to monitor data health metrics, empowering teams to make proactive adjustments. Define and implement operational KPIs to measure the performance of data management activities, identifying areas for improvement.
- Establish and enforce processes for capturing, cataloguing, and updating business, technical, and operational metadata to support data discovery.
- Ensuring Data Security and privacy and implement data privacy policies and data continuity plans to ensure data is sufficiently protected from within and outside the bank
- Manage the operationalization of privacy policies by implementing processes and tools to ensure compliance with global data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA)
- Collaborate with data stewards and cross-functional teams to define data quality rules, standards, and metrics, and ensure adherence across the organization
- Ensure oversight on country data operations to ensure alignment to data quality controls and standards
- Coordinate with relevant teams such as ICS, CFCC etc. to assess privacy risks and implement controls during new data initiatives
Process Optimization:
- Lead efforts to enhance data operations by adopting streamlined and scalable processes. Drive process improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency. Ensure end-to-end operational excellence in data handling processes, from ingestion and transformation to delivery across business units
- Establish a culture of continuous improvement by regularly reviewing operational processes and incorporating stakeholder feedback. Integrate continuous improvement methodologies into operational workflows to ensure efficiency
- Ensure effective delivery of all Data Services and Data Operations including Master Data Management, Data Classification and Data indexing. Develop and implement the systems for managing data such as Data Warehouses , data stores and other data platforms. Define processes for management of metadata systems and oversee data integration process to facilitate seamless data flow between systems and applications
- Standardize and document key data management processes to ensure consistency across the bank. Ensure all data libraries e.g. metadata management are run effectively
- Oversee the maintenance and enhancement of the bank’s metadata repository, ensuring accessibility and usability
- Incorporate best practices into data operations to identify and eliminate inefficiencies
- Collaborate with the Head of Data Governance to design and implement performance benchmarks to track progress in data operations efficiency and effectiveness.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand pain points in data operations and design solutions tailored to their needs.
- Collaborate with the Data Architecture and analytics teams to support the generation of accurate insights and reports
- Ensure operational issues are addressed proactively to minimize downtime and ensure data availability
Governance Integration:
- Collaborate with Head of Data Governance & Data Conduct as well as relevant Risk & CFCC teams toimplement advanced data management strategies, standardized policies, and procedures that optimize operations and drive continuous improvement. Lead the efforts to a self-service led data culture for the Bank
- Ensure adherence to data privacy, security, and compliance standards in all data management operations.
- Embed data ownership and stewardship principles into operational workflows, ensuring accountability at all levels.
- Facilitate audits and reviews related to data operations to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Support the bank’s risk management goals by embedding control mechanisms into data operation processes to mitigate data misuse or breaches.

- Champion and act as a role model of the Group’s values and culture
- Lead and support a change in mindset, building a culture of client centricity, agility, and accountability through standardised metrics and measurement, ensuring the team are drivers and owners of client outcomes.
- Set effective metrics and standards, transparently communicating them to team members, providing feedback and rewarding employees accordingly. Set the appropriate tone and expectations for the wider team.
- Employ, engage, and retain high quality people, with succession planning for critical roles.
Regulatory & Business Conduct
