Job Summary

  • The role of Global Head of Data Analytics and AI Enablement, at the Managing Director level, will build strong capability within CDO organisation to propagate Analytics and AI across the Bank.
  • The role will be pivotal in shaping and driving our bank’s AI strategy and ambitions and the role holder will act as the product owner for enterprise-wide AI solutions, foster innovation, and ensure the bank remains at the forefront of AI advancements. 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Strategy

  • Collaborate with the CDO/key stakeholders team to draft and refine the bank’s AI strategy and ambitions.
  • Act as the bank’s product owner for enterprise-wide AI solutions, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive roadmap for AI adoption across the bank.
  • Ensure that AI initiatives are aligned with the overall business strategy and objectives.

Business

  • Lead the group-wide analytics and AI council to review and accelerate the adoption and progress of AI initiatives.
  • Measure the rate of return on AI adoption and its impact on business outcomes, providing insights to drive further investment.
  • Identify new business opportunities and use cases for AI to drive growth and efficiency.
  • Foster collaboration between different business units to leverage AI and analytics for maximum impact.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Oversight

  • Advanced Analytics and AI: Champion the use of Business Intelligence, advanced analytics methodologies, including machine learning, deep learning, and AI, to derive actionable insights. Lead the implementation of cutting-edge AI technologies, such as Predictive Analytics to Generative AI, to enhance analytics capabilities and deliver transformative business insights.
  • Platform and Tools Development: Promote the development and enhancement of data platforms and analytics tools in partnership with Technology & Architecture teams to ensure robust and scalable solutions.
  • Analytics Initiatives: Partner and Lead high impact and high value analytics initiatives in partnership with business and function.
  • Collaboration with Tech Teams: Work closely with Technology and Architecture teams to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance of analytics tools and platforms.

Processes:

  • Establish and maintain high standards for utilizing AI and analytics across the organization.
  • Set parameters for AI research to stay abreast of the latest industry trends and integrate them into the bank’s operations.
  • Implement best practices for data governance, quality, and security in AI initiatives.
  • Continuously improve AI and analytics processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies.

Leadership, People & Talent

  • Influence senior leadership, internal stakeholders, and external partners to ensure the success of key initiatives.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders such as GMT, T&O MT, CIO, COOs, country representatives, functions representatives, Regulatory & Compliance team, IT teams, HR etc
  • Engage stakeholders in the development and implementation of Analytics & AI strategies.
  • Manage distributed global teams, ensuring effective leadership, mentoring, and governance across the function.
  • Partner with external industry peers to learn and adopt best practices, ensuring the bank remains a leader in AI innovation.
  • Develop and mentor a high-performing team of AI and analytics professionals.
  • Promote continuous learning and development opportunities to keep the team updated with the latest AI advancements.
  • Champion a culture of openness, trust, and risk awareness, ensuring ethical, legal, regulatory, and policy-compliant conduct.
  • Hire, retain, and develop team members, supporting diversity and inclusion within the function. 
  • Build succession plans and implement integrated Learning and Development onboarding and upskilling programs for data across the Bank.
  • Establish communities of practice (CoP) across the Bank.
  • Collaborate with data practitioners and data citizens across the bank for effective implementation of bank-wide initiatives.

Governance and Risk Management

  • Ensure that AI and analytics initiatives comply with the bank’s risk management framework.
  • Identify and mitigate any risks associated with AI adoption and implementation.
  • Develop robust risk assessment and mitigation strategies for AI projects.
  • Collaborate with risk management teams to ensure AI solutions are secure and compliant.
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and other internal policies.
  • Promote a culture of risk awareness and ensure effective risk management.

Regulatory & Business Conduct

  • Ensure that all AI and analytics activities comply with relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with regulatory bodies and external organizations like Evident AI to enhance the bank’s reputation as an AI innovator.
  • Stay informed about regulatory changes and ensure the bank’s AI initiatives remain compliant
  • Advocate for responsible AI use and contribute to industry discussions on AI regulation.
  • Ensure transparency and accountability in AI decision-making processes.
  • Uphold the highest standards of integrity and professionalism in all AI-related activities.
  • Foster an inclusive and diverse environment that encourages ethical AI practices.
  • Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct. 
  • Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.

Qualifications

 

Minimum: A relevant tertiary qualification in information technology, data science, or a related field.

  • Overall 15+ experience in Technology with critical experience in Advanced Analytics and AI, data analytics, organizational change, and data value creation and realization, with extensive leadership experience.
  • Held established senior leadership role in a similar bank driving data/analytics/AI related design & implementation globally
  • Proven experience in leading AI and data analytics initiatives within a large, complex organization.
  • Strong strategic thinking and ability to translate business goals into AI strategies and solutions.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to inspire and drive innovation.
  • Deep understanding of data architecture, AI technologies, including machine learning, predictive modelling, data mining, and AI. Familiarity with big data technologies, cloud computing, and data engineering principles is essential industry trends, and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to measure and articulate the business impact of AI initiatives.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven track record of championing Innovation (Drive innovation in data practices, ensuring adoption of latest industry trends and technologies)
  • Advanced leadership and strategic planning skills

  • Exceptional communication, stakeholder management and collaboration abilities across cross border/diverse teams
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and experience in realizing business value from data initiatives.
  • Strong promoter of Diversity and Inclusion.
  • Customer Focus (Understand and prioritize customer needs in all data transformation activities)

Certifications

  • Relevant certifications in AI, Data Analytics, or related areas are preferred.
  • Membership in professional bodies related to AI and data science is a plus.
  • Ongoing professional development in AI and analytics.
  • Certifications in project management or leadership are beneficial.
