You will be a member of Global Markets Legal and as OCBC’s Global Markets Legal Counsel, you will play a critical role in navigating the complex and ever-evolving legal landscape applicable to the Global Markets industry. How you succeed
To succeed in this role, you will need to be a strategic thinker and an understanding and knowledge of the derivatives, repurchase and securities lending industry and its regulatory framework would be an added advantage. You will need to be able to provide practical and effective legal advice to the business, while also managing risks and ensuring compliance with legal requirements. Your ability to (a) build strong relationships with stakeholders and communicate complex legal issues in a clear and concise manner; and (b) remain poised to deliver under pressure will be essential.
What you do

Provide legal support to markets and derivatives business in OCBC head office and other global market branches and subsidiaries of OCBC Group.

Responsible for the drafting and negotiation of Master Agreements / other trading agreements and related collateral agreements (ISDA, CSA, GMRA, GMSLA, TMA) with counterparties in various jurisdictions.

Co-ordinate with, and respond to, queries relating to Master Agreements from, other functional specialists in the Bank, to resolve legal/credit risk/operational/tax/business issues and obtain relevant approvals.

Ensure adherence with procedures of the Bank’s documentation standards and to maintain/update documentation templates, procedures, etc.

Assist in the onboarding process by reviewing corporate capacity and authority documents from counterparties to ensure proper authority to trade treasury products with the Bank.

Work on any regulatory driven projects or bank-initiated projects as may be required from time to time.

Where needed, to work with sales, structuring and trading team to review or develop derivatives products term sheets and on structured investment solutions involving repack participation structures with different asset class underlying.

Assist with general contract terms and conditions review as and when necessary.
Who you are

Qualified lawyer with 3 to 8 PQE
-
Singapore or English qualified lawyer preferred but not mandatory.

Experience in derivatives, repurchase, securities lending, financial services regulatory, banking, capital markets or Islamic finance work (whether in a law firm or as in-house counsel) will be an advantage.

Excellent communication, interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, project management, ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Good team player with agile and adaptable mindset.

Candidate must be able to work independently and with other functional specialists in completing projects.

Candidate must be a self- starter with strong sense of ownership and responsibility
