JOB SUMMARY
- Support Global Head, Careers & Capabilities and work with all stakeholders particularly across People Capability, Talent Acquisition & Deployment and Talent Management & Career Experience teams to deliver on the strategic agenda and as required in the running of the team. This role is critical in ensuring a well governed and proactively well organized and managed team, and the role holder will also work closely with all initiative owners on overall project governance, financial management and various management reporting, tracking the progress and completion of initiatives on a timely basis.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategy
- To support the Global Head, Careers & Capabilities in the development of the Careers & Capabilities priorities
- Monitor and track progress of deliverables including key initiatives and projects that support the achievement of the strategic agenda
- Manage overall project governance, financial management and various management reporting of projects/ initiatives
- Organise workshops, offsites, meetings, and presentations to enable achievement of the strategic agenda.
- Prepare communications to keep stakeholders and the function informed about the progress of achievement.
Business
- Day-to-day business management for the Careers & Capabilities team, including monitoring and tracking of functional performance, budgets and establishing and maintaining appropriate processes/ mechanisms for efficient tracking and monitoring
- Work with initiative owner and track progress and completion of initiatives on a timely basis
- Prepare reports, presentations, papers and review material to support discussions and decision making
- Manage agenda, prepare material and track action items for meetings and forums
- Support Global Head, Careers & Capabilities to execute on planned priorities including delivery of objectives and outcomes aligned to strategic agenda
- Support Global Head, Careers & Capabilities in planning and coordination as required in the function
Processes
- Expert knowledge in project management, tracking progress closely and ensuring initiatives are completed on a timely basis
- Support Global Head, Careers & Capabilities ahead of material issues and act as point of contact to help manage issues or solve problems
People & Talent
- Support Global Head, Careers & Capabilities on people management in the areas of resourcing, performance management, learning & development and engagement
- Support Global Head, Careers & Capabilities in embedding any organisation structure changes from time to time
- Collaborate well with all stakeholders and initiative owners
- Lead by example and build appropriate culture and values; foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture
Risk Management
- Highlight risks to management and actively monitor them to reduce the likelihood of occurrence
- Ensure up to date reporting of relevant risks at relevant governance forums, raise and escalate risks to higher governance committees where required
Governance
- Awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework in which the Group and geographies operate
- Monitor process implementation effectiveness where applicable, identify key areas for improvement and enhance process and controls for effective management of risk
Regulatory & Business Conduct
- Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct.
- Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.

Our Ideal Candidate
- 10+ years of experience in the Banking or financial services space
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Engineering from recognized university
- Strong programme management experience with consulting skillset preferred
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Good multi-tasking skills, able to prioritise issues and resolve them efficiently
- Mature self-starter who can quickly get up to speed
- Ability to work on broad projects as well as day-to-day process oriented tasks
- Strong organisational skills and process discipline
- Flexibility and responsiveness to handle changing priorities and urgent requests from senior management
- Experience working in a geographic or functional matrix environment
- Multi-cultural awareness and proven success of working effectively with people of different backgrounds.
