Job Summary
The CIB CDO role will be accountable to lead the operationalisation and implementation of CIB wide data and privacy policies, standards, and procedures and to drive the adoption and measurement of appropriate privacy and data management process, controls and practices.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy
- The role holder will bring a strategic mindset whilst also maintaining hands-on control over the outcomes, the role holder must be comfortable dealing with ambiguity and building strong stakeholder relationships and communication channels across CIB businesses.
- This role holder will manage a cross disciplinary team of data management, records management and data privacy professionals who have subject matter expertise, tailored to CIB business context,.
Business
- Take lead role in deploying and operationalising tools and processes specifically designed to meet CIB and Banks data aspirations (including risk reduction) through the strengthening of controls. Furthermore, it includes providing a service to businesses to guide and assist them in their usage of the data & privacy management toolset. Also channelling feedback to Group CDO & relevant Process / Product owners, to enable continuous improvement and drive better client experience.
- Promote a risk-aware culture with regards to Data management, Privacy and Records management to ensure efficient and effective risk management practices by adhering to required standards and processes.
Business Continuity Management:
- Accountable to ensure BCM framework adequately supports the data management & privacy strategy. Where necessary provide executive sponsorship for major BCM initiatives.
People & Talent
- Champion and act as a role model of the Group’s values and culture in the region
- Lead and support a change in mindset, building a culture of client centricity, agility, and accountability through standardised metrics and measurement, ensuring everyone are drivers and owners of client outcomes.
- Set effective metrics and standards, transparently communicating them to team members, providing feedback and rewarding employees accordingly. Set the appropriate tone and expectations for the wider team.
- Employ, engage, and retain high quality people, with succession planning for critical roles.
- Ensure team structure/capacity is reviewed to enable delivery of client outcomes.
- Ensure the provision of on-going training & development, ensure that direct reports are suitably skilled and qualified for their roles and that they have effective supervision in place to mitigate any risk.
Risk Management
- Drive continuous evolution and improvement of controls and services covering data management lifecycle & Privacy
- Lead in identifying, assessing, monitoring, controlling and mitigating data management, privacy and record management risks for CIB
- Adopt a proactive approach to threat risk assessment through appropriate stakeholder engagement and monitoring of the external environment to improve assurance planning.
- Work with other risk assurance teams to drive efficiency, effectiveness and reduce duplication.
- Closely track delivery of regulatory and policy commitments and making available the timely provision of information to risk committees and regulators as required.
- Ensure the development and implementation of a target operating model for the data management including roles, responsibilities and capabilities in CIB Businesses.
- Implement and manage operational processes which deliver outcome focused & timely service delivery.
- Analyse existing business & functional processes to identify automation opportunities in area of data management, data privacy and records management.
- Recommend process improvements to address control gaps and to enhance efficiency where possible.
- Support liaison with Risk Assurance team on any Group Internal Audit and any regulatory inspections as required.
Governance
Data Management & Governance
- Accountability for the implementation across CIB and contribution to design of a strategic data management / lifecycle roadmap in line with client journeys and its successful deployment in the business. Delivering centralisation of processes, consolidation of technologies/processes and implement additional automation and self-service capabilities.
- Act as the Global lead for Data Management for CIB to supporting business operationalise and implement data and privacy policies, standards, and procedures and to maintain appropriate privacy and data management controls.
- In partnership with Group Chief Data Officer help execute an end-to-end data lifecycle framework and roadmap in line with client lifecycle covering the tools, platforms, and delivery mechanism to help drive the client groups’ strategic priorities.
- Lead by example in developing solutions, defining physical structure and functional capabilities, security, back-up, and recovery specifications to business specific problems.
- For CIB ensure & determine structural requirements by analysing client operations, applications, and required programming efforts, feed the same in CDO book of work.
- Oversee the remediation steps and deliver post remediation troubleshooting with existing data management & privacy issues. Ensure that fit for purpose operating models exist for all business units across CIB.
