Key Responsibilities
Strategy
- Work with the Global Sales and Structuring Head and the Sales Management Team to define and implement the business strategic agenda to maximise shareholder value, identify and create areas of competitive advantage.
- Constructively challenge the and work with this group to highlight and resolve trade-offs between competing business investments and agendas.
- Work with the business heads and Transformation to develop and execute an infrastructure plan that supports the business strategy and is aligned to future regulatory requirements.
- Work with the Business to assess and implement the growth Strategy for Sales.
- Work with COO, Client Coverage, TB, Banking colleagues to drive a coherent client strategy that enables Cross-border CIB
Business
- Set the overall support structure agenda for the business, and work with enablement functions to define priorities and goals for the different functions.
- Improve productivity and efficiency by driving an automation and standardisation agenda for the business that enables sustainable growth and scalability.
- Drive client lifecycle management and service agenda in support of Markets client strategy
Processes
- Develop analytics and processes to identify client opportunities through thorough account planning. Own client insight and analytics
- Simplify processes relevant to Sales and Structuring and client experience on a continuous basis
- Develop performance culture and embed it in Sales management processes
People & Talent
- Employ, engage and retain a high-quality diverse workforce, with succession planning for critical roles.
- Lead through example and build the appropriate culture and values. Set appropriate tone and expectations from their team and work in collaboration with risk and control partners.
- Ensure the provision of ongoing training and development of people and ensure that holders of all critical functions are suitably skilled and qualified for their roles ensuring that they have effective supervision in place to mitigate any risks.
- Proactively review team structure/capacity as resource demand (quantum & skill set) evolve.
- Lead a performance management process to ensure direct reports have clearly defined job descriptions; objectives; transparent and balanced feedback; and clear and achievable career aspirations.
Risk Management
- Outline the overall risk profile and non-financial risk management for the business, and work with Markets Non-Financial Risk Management Committee members and 2LOD to achieve risk reduction
- Ensure the Bank is compliant with all new regulations by overseeing and supporting the execution of Regulatory programmes as they apply to Markets Sales and Structuring businesses
- Ensure Best Execution policies and standards are adhered too.
- With other NFRC members, deliver and maintain optimal global design standards for processes that are fit for business purpose and growth.
- Work closely with COO Governance and Control, Compliance, 2LOD and 3LOD to ensure Sales are adhering to standards that have been implemented.
- Oversee assurance, audit and regulatory reviews relevant to Sales and Structuring business
- Ensure that material risks which affect the business processes are monitored, managed and escalated in accordance with the Group’s Risk Management Framework
- Take the lead in identifying and driving initiatives designed to increase business operating efficiency and strengthen first line operational risk management.
- Act to minimize operational loss and audit failures and take proactive measures to respond to matters arising and identify and manage forward looking risks.
Governance
- With Global Sales & Structuring NFRC members, ensure that the Non-Financial Risk Committees execute their responsibilities in line with the terms of reference
- Responsible, with the business and function heads, for maintaining a strong and appropriate control environment across the business.
- Assess for the effectiveness of the Group’s arrangements to deliver effective governance, oversight and controls in the business and, if necessary, oversee changes in these areas
- Promote awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role
- Deliver ‘effective governance’; capability to challenge fellow executives
- Recommend and drive continuous improvements in the business, i.e. identify and executing ad-hoc improvements to business processes, policies, structure, and roles;
Regulatory & Business Conduct
- Embed the Group’s values and code of conduct and develop a robust culture to ensure adherence with the highest standards of ethics, and compliance with relevant policies, processes and regulations among employees.
- Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct.
- Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
- Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.
