As an FX Operations Officer at OCBC, you will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of foreign exchange (FX) transactions. These FX transactions result from clients’ equity trades when clients request currency conversion to settle their transactions in foreign markets. You’ll contribute directly to the success of our Global Markets Equities business, supporting trading activities and ensuring compliance. Collaboration with traders, other operations teams and technology partners is crucial. Staying updated on regulatory changes and internal policies will allow you to anticipate and mitigate potential risks, ensuring seamless execution.
What You Do
Key duties include verifying FX confirmations with counterparties and trading representatives (TRs)/clients, compiling and monitoring FX exposures to ensure appropriate hedging, preparing settlement instructions, and maintaining accounting records through journal entries. The role also supports cash management activities such as confirming fixed deposits, executing fund transfers with external banks, and recording related journal entries. This position requires close collaboration with the FX Dealing and Cash Management teams to ensure precise execution of FX transactions, prompt settlements, effective foreign currency exposure management, and smooth daily fund transfers. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, a solid understanding of foreign exchange markets and basic cash management principles, while maintaining strict compliance with regulatory and internal policies.

Verify that all FX trades executed for Equities clients align with FX team records.

Aggregate FX amounts for hedging purposes and ensure brokers’ accounts are adequately pre-funded.

Prepare fund transfer instructions and confirm accurate execution of transfers by banks at day-end.

Maintain account records by posting journal entries in the accounting system.

Monitor foreign currency accounts to maintain minimum balances, preventing excessive exposure and ensuring compliance with counterparty agreements.

Prepare and upload daily house FX rates into internal systems accurately and on time.

Assist the Cash Management team by verifying fund placement confirmations with counterparties.

Perform daily and month-end reconciliations of placements against bank statements.

Validate banking charges and post corresponding journal entries.

Prepare and submit regulatory reports related to foreign currency exposures, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.

Conduct RCSA, CSA, and other periodic reviews in accordance with Group policies.

Respond promptly and accurately to ad-hoc queries from TRs.
Who You Are

Degree holder in business, accounting, economics, or sciences.

Minimum 1-2 years’ experience in a treasury, cash management or settlement function.

Candidates with back/middle office experience in financial institutions will also be considered.

Fundamental understanding of equities, FX, and futures products.

Team player, detail oriented and ability to manage deadlines.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
