Be a guardian of financial integrity. As an EmB Business Compliance Intern, you’ll play a critical role in protecting OCBC from financial crime and ensuring our adherence to regulatory standards. You’ll gain practical experience in conducting customer due diligence, analyzing risk, and contributing to a robust compliance framework for our corporate clients.

What you do

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Customer Due Diligence & Screening: Independently perform end-to-end customer due diligence, Know Your Client (KYC), and screening work for a variety of client segments with differing risk profiles.
  • Risk Assessment & Review: Conduct assessment and triggering event reviews within stipulated timelines, identifying potential risks and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Research & Information Gathering: Conduct thorough research using Bank systems, commercial databases, and internet sources to gather information for customer reviews.
  • Regulatory Understanding & Application: Discuss and apply your understanding of various MAS/AML/CFT guidelines to ensure appropriate controls are in place.
  • Process Improvement & Automation: Participate in process enhancement and automation projects to improve team efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Contact customers for clarifications and obtain updated information regarding their businesses, fostering clear communication and collaboration.

Learning Objectives

This internship will provide you with:

  • A comprehensive understanding of MAS/AML/CFT guidelines and how controls are carried out in a banking environment.
  • Hands-on experience in performing end-to-end customer due diligence, KYC, and screening procedures.
  • Practical experience conducting risk assessments and triggering event reviews.
  • Development of analytical skills, attention to detail, and a strong understanding of regulatory compliance.
