As a Data Science & AI Intern with the Central Procurement Office (CPO) under Group Corporate Services, you’ll play a meaningful role in OCBC’s digital transformation journey. You’ll work on real procurement challenges, collaborate with sourcing and operations teams, and apply advanced analytics to influence strategic decision-making—all while building strong foundations in data storytelling, problem-solving, and stakeholder engagement.

You’ll work closely with procurement professionals and technology partners, learning how data-driven insights can improve efficiency, manage risk, and unlock value across the organisation. Your ability to communicate clearly and translate insights into practical recommendations will be key to your success.

What you do

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Data Preparation & Analysis: clean, analyse, and visualise procurement datasets to uncover trends, inefficiencies, risks, and opportunities
  • Predictive Analytics & Machine Learning: develop models to support demand forecasting, supplier performance insights, and cost optimisation
  • Dashboards & Reporting: assist in building dashboards and reports using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Python-based frameworks
  • AI Exploration & Prototyping: explore use cases such as NLP for contract analysis, anomaly detection in spend data, and intelligent sourcing recommendations
  • Insights & Storytelling: document methodologies and present data-driven insights to stakeholders to support informed decision-making

Who you work with

Group Corporate Services’ Central Procurement Office partners the organisation to deliver value, efficiency, and governance across procurement activities. The team plays a strategic role in supporting the Group’s businesses through responsible sourcing, strong supplier partnerships, and digital innovation. As an intern, you’ll work alongside procurement, sourcing, and operations professionals who are passionate about transforming procurement into a data- and insight-led function.

Who you are

  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, or a related field
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a structured approach to data
  • Proficient in Python, R, or similar programming languages
  • Familiar with machine learning libraries (e.g. scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch) and data visualisation tools
  • Comfortable working with SQL and large datasets
  • Self-driven, curious, and able to work independently as well as collaboratively
  • Exposure to NLP, time-series forecasting, or optimisation techniques
  • Basic understanding of procurement or supply chain concepts
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP
