Curious about the foundations of banking stability? As a Market Risk Management Intern, you’ll delve into the critical world of Asset Liability Management (ALM), learning how banks manage liquidity and interest rate risk. You’ll gain practical experience generating key regulatory reports and contributing to the safety and soundness of OCBC.

How you succeed

Be analytical, detail-oriented, and eager to learn complex concepts. You’ll need to quickly grasp ALM principles, accurately interpret data, and identify trends within risk exposures. Success means proactively contributing to process improvements and mastering the tools used to monitor and manage our balance sheet.

What you do

  • Generate ALM risk reports for both internal management and regulatory submissions (including LCR, NSFR, and EVE).
  • Analyze ALM risk exposures to identify trends and understand the reasons behind variances.
  • Contribute to process improvements, automation, and dashboarding initiatives to enhance reporting accuracy and insights.
  • Participate in user testing of our ALM system during enhancements and parameter updates.

Who you are

  • Currently pursuing a degree – both undergraduate and postgraduate students are welcome.
  • Analytical and possess a keen eye for detail.
  • Eager to learn about financial risk management and banking principles.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel – strong skills are an advantage.
  • A proactive and collaborative team player.

Learning Objectives

This internship will provide you with:

  • A deep understanding of asset and liability risk management (ALM) concepts, including liquidity and interest rate risk.
  • Practical experience generating ALM risk reports, specifically for Liquidity Coverage Ratio (LCR), Net Stable Funding Ratio (NSFR), and Economic Value of Equity (EVE).
  • Insight into regulatory requirements and reporting standards within the banking industry.
