We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Infrastructure Automation Engineer to drive and enhance our infrastructure automation initiatives. This role will lead the Infrastructure Automation Team, with all Infra Automation Engineers reporting to this position. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining automation frameworks for infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and Day-2 operations automation.

 

The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Ansible, Puppet, and Terraform, along with a strong understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automation pipelines, and modern DevOps practices. This role requires both technical leadership and team management skills to mentor and guide the team while aligning automation strategies with business objectives.

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead and manage the Infrastructure Automation team, providing technical guidance and mentorship.
  • Foster a culture of automation, continuous improvement, and innovation.
  • Ensure collaboration with cross-functional teams (Cloud, Technical SME’s, Security, and Operations).

 

Infrastructure Automation Strategy & Execution

  • Develop and lead the automation strategy to improve efficiency in infrastructure provisioning and management.
  • Define and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) best practices using Ansible, Puppet, and Terraform.
  • Automate Day-2 operations, including patching, configuration drift remediation, monitoring, backup, and incident response.
  • Ensure high availability, scalability, and security within automated processes.

 

Automation Development & Implementation

  • Develop standardized automation playbooks, modules, and CI/CD pipelines for consistent infrastructure deployment.
  • Implement self-healing and auto-remediation mechanisms to minimize downtime.
  • Evaluate and integrate new tools and automation methodologies for infrastructure optimization.
  • Maintain version-controlled infrastructure code repositories and enforce best practices.

 

Governance, Security, and Compliance

  • Ensure automation frameworks comply with security policies and regulatory standards.
  • Implement policy-driven automation to enforce configuration standards across environments.
  • Maintain auditability, logging, and monitoring of all automated infrastructure activities.

 

Collaboration & Continuous Innovation

  • Work closely with Cloud, Technical Towers, Security, and Operations teams to align automation efforts with business needs.
  • Lead evaluations, proof-of-concepts , and implementations of new automation tools and methodologies.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and automation-first mindset.

 

Skills for Success:

 

  • Degree in computer science/ Information Technology
  • 10+ years of experience in IT Infrastructure, with at least 5 years in automation.
  • Strong expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Ansible, Puppet, Terraform.
  • Experience with VM provisioning, hardening, and infrastructure tooling automation.
  • Proven track record in Day-2 operations automation, such as patching, monitoring, and remediation.
  • Hands-on experience in CI/CD pipelines and DevOps automation.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Shell, or PowerShell.
  • Strong knowledge of configuration management, orchestration, and workflow automation.
  • Familiarity with public/private cloud environments (AWS, Azure, OpenStack, or VMware).
  • Understanding of networking, security, and system administration principles.
  • Proven experience leading a technical team, with direct reports in automation or infrastructure engineering.
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across teams.
  • Experience in building and scaling an automation team, including hiring and team development.
  • Ability to prioritize projects, manage workloads effectively, and drive automation goals.
  • Strong documentation and process standardization mindset.
  • Passion for continuous learning and process optimization.
