JOB SUMMARY

This role partners with business and discipline leaders across APEC to design and guide learning solutions that develop our people, strengthen our brand, and drive hotel performance. You’ll apply instructional design expertise to recommend solutions, curate quality content, source and manage vendors, and enable disciplines to execute effective learning programs across service culture, leadership development, hotel operations, and commercial effectiveness. You’ll build trusted relationships with stakeholders, represent regional context in global discussions, and use insights to continuously improve program effectiveness.

We’re looking for a learning design expert who knows how to make training work in the real world of hotels. Partner with business and discipline leaders across APEC to design and guide learning solutions that develop our people, strengthen our brand, and drive hotel performance. You’ll bring your instructional design expertise to recommend what works, curate quality content from the best sources, manage vendor relationships, and enable our disciplines to run effective programs across service culture, leadership, operations, and commercial effectiveness. You’ll be the trusted advisor who builds strong stakeholder relationships, represents our regional context in global conversations, and continuously improves how we learn. This isn’t about building content or delivering training—it’s about being the strategic guide who makes learning happen through others

CANDIDATE PROFILE 

Education and Experience 

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in learning design, hotel management, organizational development, human resources or related major
  • Minimum 4 years of progressive experience in learning and development, instructional design, or talent development 
  • Demonstrated experience designing learning experiences across multiple modalities (digital, blended, hands-on) 
  • Experience translating business needs into learning solutions with clear objectives and outcomes 
  • Proven ability to work effectively with stakeholders at various organizational levels

Preferred

  • Professional certifications in instructional design, learning and development, or talent development 
  • Experience in the hospitality industry or a related field
  • Familiarity with learning technologies and content authoring tools 
  • Experience managing vendor relationships and evaluating external learning resources 
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, matrixed environment               

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES 

Stakeholder Partnership & Needs Understanding 

  • Partner with discipline leaders to understand performance challenges, capability gaps, and learning needs across hotel operations
  • Define learning objectives and business outcomes for training initiatives in collaboration with stakeholders
  • Ask the right questions to understand context, audience, and operational constraints before designing solutions
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships across organizational levels, establishing credibility through learning design expertise and practical guidance on successful program deployment 
  • Represent APAC context, needs, challenges, and cultural considerations in discussions with Global Talent Development partners 
  • Communicate global initiatives to regional stakeholders and facilitate adoption

Learning Experience Design & Solution Architect

Design and guide learning programs across key areas including service culture and brand standards, leadership development, hotel operations, commercial effectiveness, and cohort-based talent programs. 

Learning Design: 

  • Create high-level program structures including flow, sequencing, and practical application 
  • Apply learner-centric design principles, using digital, blended, and hands on learning methods 
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure content is relevant, engagement and effective 
  • Advise on when to build custom content, curate existing resources, or engage external vendors 
  • Review and provide feedback on learning materials created global and continent stakeholders 

Content Curation:

  • Research, evaluate, and recommend external learning resources 
  • Create blended learning pathways that combine curated external content with internal experiences 
  • Assess quality, relevance, and fit of off-the-shelf content 
  • Stay current on learning marketplace trends and emerging providers

Vendor Management 

  • Source, evaluate, and recommend external training vendors, consultants, and content providers 
  • Advise on when to build custom content, curate existing resources, or engage external vendors 
  • Negotiate contracts and manage vendor relationships to deliver high-quality learning solutions 
  • Manage learning budgets for assigned business units

Program Insights and Continuous Improvement 

  • Use data and insights to continuously improve program effectiveness and learner experience
  • Make recommendations on which programs should continue, be improved, or be retired
