- Manage databases by administering, installing, configuring, upgrading, and patching.
- Monitor and optimize database performance, utilizing advanced skills in database tool usage including capacity planning with a detailed analysis and recommendation.
- Perform database backup and complex recovery.
- Perform strong troubleshooting, diagnosing and recovery from complex database issues.
- Provide strong technical assistance and advice to application teams.
- Co-ordinate with internal IT and escalate to vendors for timely response/recovery.
- Automate routine tasks using scripts and open-source tools.
- Gather requirements, design business and technical aspects, develop, test, implement, and write queries, stored procedures, and automation scripts for various database technologies.
- Design and implement cloud-based database solutions on AWS and Azure, ensuring best practices for security, scalability, and performance.
- Utilize AWS RDS, Aurora, and Azure SQL Database for managing relational databases, ensuring high availability and disaster recovery configurations.
- Monitor cloud database performance using tools like AWS CloudWatch and Azure Monitor and optimize resource allocation based on usage patterns.
- Implement and manage geo-redundant database architectures in cloud environments, ensuring data integrity and availability across multiple regions.
Requirements:
- Minimum requirement of 10+ years of experience in database administration, encompassing installation, configuration, backup/recovery, patching, database tuning, and support for application design and development.
- Proficiency in physical database modelling, information engineering, multi-tier design and development, and open systems.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in database high availability and disaster recovery techniques and concepts.
- Experience in performance analysis (IO, CPU, etc.) and optimization (indexes, partitions, schema re-design, etc.).
- Familiarity with geo-redundant database architectures (Always-On, Active/Active, Master/Master, etc.) will be considered an advantageous skill.
- Relevant experience on Oracle, SQL Server, EDB Postgres, MongoDB are more suitable for the requirement.
- Experience with cloud-native database services, including familiarity with serverless database options and microservices architectures.
- Knowledge of cloud security best practices for databases, including encryption, access control, and compliance considerations.
- Having good interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Having good communication skills and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
