How You Succeed

You succeed by effectively bridging ESG expertise with commercial banking realities. In this role, you partner closely with corporate and commercial banking teams, providing practical ESG advisory and conducting due diligence on clients and transactions to identify, assess, and mitigate sustainability risks. You bring a forward‑looking perspective – anticipating regulatory developments, industry trends, and emerging sustainability issues – and translate them into clear guidance for business units. Through strong stakeholder engagement and influence, you help build internal ESG capabilities, shape sustainability initiatives, and drive consistent, compliant, and responsible financing outcomes across the Bank.

What you do

The successful candidate will contribute to the sustainability stewardship efforts with the Global Wholesale Banking team. The candidate will be part of the team acting as the ESG subject matter expert for the various business units, engaging them to ensure consistency in implementation of, and compliance to, the Bank’s ESG risk policies, in particular, to:

– Conduct ESG due diligence on clients and transactions to ensure alignment to internal and international ESG standards (including the Equator Principles), and advise business units on risk management measures

– Provide ESG and Climate Risk advisory to the business units in accordance with the Bank’s ESG requirements;

– Support with furthering the Bank’s sustainability strategy and internal capabilities through working with internal stakeholders on various initiatives, e.g., ESG training, ESG data management, etc.

– Support with process improvement or automation initiatives, e.g., process digitalisation requirements gathering, user testing, and stakeholder management.

– Monitor trends on sustainability issues in the market, including their potential impact on the Bank’s portfolio and new prospects.

Who you are

– Minimum of 3 – 5 years of relevant experience in ESG or sustainability-related discipline, preferably working directly with/within the finance sector, consulting sector or other ESG fields such as ESG function in corporations.

– Knowledge of key sustainability issues, ESG international standards/principles and best practices and their relevance to the finance sector.

– Effective communication and possess writing skills with clarity.

– Strong team player, with an ability to work independently and proactively and to operate under tight deadlines.

– Comfortable working with data sets.
